NYOH Community Cancer Foundation
Patient Education and Programs
The NYOH Community Cancer Foundation supports various patient education and programs; as well as resources which provide emotional support for cancer patients, family members, and caregivers.
Books for Children and Teens
Inspired by the Bright Spot Network, the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation now has select titles of free, age-appropriate books about emotions, cancer and illness, and grief and loss for children and teens who have a parent with cancer. Examples of titles include: The Feelings Book, Chemotherapy 101, and Lifetimes: The Beautiful Way to Describe Death to Children. Contact a member of the NYOH social work department at any NYOH location or hello@nyohfoundation.org for more information.
The Write Treatment Workshop
This series of four, one-hour sessions each week for a month captures the power of writing as a therapeutic tool. Facilitated by a local published author and cancer survivor, this workshop is virtual and open to all NYOH patients and caregivers at no charge.
2025 workshops are anticipated for March, June, and October 2025, along with several drop-in sessions for previous workshop attendees. Please contact Frances Ford, LCSW, OSW-C at: (518) 489-3612 x 1342 to sign-up for 2025 dates.
“Being able to listen to each other’s stories connects in a way that transcends our cancer diagnoses and gives us new perspectives on who we are and what we’re capable of accomplishing.”
