The NYOH Community Cancer Foundation is distributing over 150 handmade chemo port pillows for patients at multiple NYOH locations, thanks to the sewing talents of Judi E, Pat G, and Midge D.  Thank you each for your time and sewing talent! Wearing a seatbelt can be uncomfortable with a port.  These little pillows can provide a buffer.  If you would like to lend your skills to this simple, yet meaningful project, check out this flyer for a supply list and suggested instructions.

It might still be chilly winter out now -- but back in August, Creighton Manning Engineering was celebrating the summer with staff dress down days, outdoor barbecues, and more to support the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation.  For several summers in a row, the generous staff at Creighton Manning have organized these small events to raise awareness around cancer.  Thank you!

Thank you to Will Bullis and the team at Runnings in the Gloversville for hosting an October Ladies’ Night fundraiser and breast cancer awareness event on October 19! All 57 stores nationwide hosted an event with proceeds donated to local cancer charities.  Thank you for presenting a check for $600 to the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation!

The Mechanicville-Stillwater Breast Cancer Walk presented a check for $18,000 to our Foundation last Thursday night! This incredible committee of all volunteers hosted the annual community walk on October 9, raising cancer awareness and funds in memory of Jessica Mitchell, who died in 2008 of breast cancer. We are humbled and grateful for being one of the three organizations to receive proceeds from the Walk, alongside Mollie Wilmot Radiation Oncology Center and the American Cancer Society. A huge thank you to Liz Grattan of the NYOH Hudson Office for baking delicious Thanksgiving pies, with ALL SALES donated to the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation.  Last month, Liz took orders for five different varieties (apple, apple crumb, mixed berry, pecan, and pumpkin), baked 70 pies with love and kindness, and raised over $1,050 for the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation.

Thank you to River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam for your donation to our Foundation! The staff and residents set-up a table this month to promote breast cancer awareness. Other items collected such as blankets, lip balm, and socks will help our patients at NYOH.

The Mechanicville Girls Varsity Soccer Team stopped by our Clifton Park Cancer Center and presented our Foundation with a check for $5,000! This season, the team organized car washes and special soccer games, sold baked goods and treats, as well as partnered with a local hair salon for color hair extensions to raise money for a cancer awareness.  The team also designed and sold t-shirts with “In This Family No One Fights Alone”. We wish the graduating seniors well and praise this team’s commitment to giving back this season!
